Queues form to secure waterfront apartments at Brightlingsea Marina.
Colin and Sandra Cooper knew they were onto a good thing when they first saw the plans for the Waterside Marina Brightlingsea. Despite living only 1.5 miles from this water front development they decided to buy an apartment here for the stunning coastal views and exceptional build quality.
Colin explains: “The place has exceeded our expectations really on every level – the standard of the property, the willingness to put things right if a snag occurs and of course the location is stunning. It was obvious to us that it was a prime location and really unique to get a position on the water like this on the Essex coastline”.
Sandra Cooper was second in line when the waterfront properties first became available in July 2004. “I started queuing at 9am Friday ready for them to go on sale on Saturday at 10am. By the evening there was quite a crowd of us and I started to get to know my neighbours before my property was even built. One investor bought four apartments on that day”.
The Coopers are keen boat enthusiasts and are members of both the Brightlingsea Water-ski Club and the Colne Yacht Club, which Colin advises is always ready to welcome new members and visitors. The couple make regular boat trips from their Brightlingsea base and also welcome friends from the boating community. The harbour can accommodate nearly 500 boats varying in size from 14 to 40 feet and a water taxi operates to bring yachts people ashore.
The waterside apartment was originally purchased as an investment but the Coopers have fallen in love with the lifestyle so much that they have been living here all summer. They have found a tenant for the winter months to give someone else access to these spectacular views, but Colin assures me they will be moving back in next summer.
