N20 area information
London N20 encompasses the areas of Totteridge & Whetstone.
Some of the largest properties in North London can be found on the long and winding Totteridge Lane. The area has retained a village feel and there are several local community groups that meet regularly in the picturesque village hall. Unfortunately drivers looking for alternative routes to the A406 have made the area more congested in recent years.
The housing stock in Whetstone is more modest consisting as it does of primarily 1930s semis. The area was apparently named after a stone that the locals used to sharpen knives on that still sits outside the Griffin Pub on the High Road.
Swan Lane Open Space is popular with families in the area; facilities include a café and pond. You will find entrances on Swan Lane and Whetstone High Road. For the more athletic types there is Barnet Playing Fields on Barnet Lane.
Totteridge and Whetstone also share an Underground Station on zone 4 of the Northern Line. It is located on Totteridge Lane and has a journey time to Central London of just over half an hour.
